About Ned

​Ned is a distance running and strength + conditioning coach at Parallel Running who is passionate about making sure his athletes enjoy the process. Ned has multiple years experience in run coaching and strength and conditioning. He has a deep understanding of training principles and how to apply them to each athlete. He also works as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in Melbourne.

Ned’s coaching philosophy is pretty simple, “Consistency always prevails. Discipline beats motivation”. His coaching style is very relaxed yet evidence-based, where he values consistency, effective communication, and sustainable progress. 

Ned has been running since age 5 and has achieved a 5km personal best time of 14:42. Ned experienced a significant injury unrelated to running which required his hip being totally replaced at the age of 20 years old keeping him sidelined for many years. For Ned, this was life changing and gave him a unique perspective on how injuries can affect people both physically and mentally. Ned believes his experience allows him to help understand and support his own athletes through their own setbacks.

Following this event, Ned discovered the importance and impact strength training can have in not only performance but also every day life.

Ned loves seeing athletes achieve their goals and reaching new personal bests.
